TIME...
We are called by the
Gospel to give generously of our time to our community by
volunteering to help others. We can share our time with family,
friends or neighbors. We can share our time with any ministry in our
parish.
TALENT...
We have all been given
a special talent by God. Jesus said "the gift you have received,
give as a gift." Your talent can be shared in any way you wish or
with a ministry in your church.
TREASURE...
The word of God asks
that we become sacrificial givers. Both the old and the new
Testaments speak of the tithe. The key to tithing is thinking of
your gifts as returning to Our Lord a share of everything He gives
you.
Gifts From Current
Income - An individual may choose to give from his or her current
income. This gift is tax deductible. The higher the donor's taxable
income, the greater the proportionate tax savings. Donations may be
arranged so that a gift is payable over a period of
time.
Life Insurance - A
donor may make Saint Matthew the beneficiary of a life insurance
policy. The premiums paid are tax deductible from current
income.
Gifts of Securities -
Stocks, bonds and other securities may be donated at today's market
value. Properly handled, this procedure can take very favorable
advantage of the capital gains tax laws.
Trust - A donor may
establish a trust with the income going to Saint Matthew Catholic
Church and the principle reverting to the donor's heirs, or a trust
with the principle going to Saint Matthew and the income remaining
with the donor.
Gifts of Property -
Real estate and personal property may be donated to Saint Matthew.
Capital gains tax laws, as they pertain to charitable gifts, can
also make this type of giving very attractive.
Memorials - All gifts
may be established in the name of a loved one. Missals, Missalettes,
Choir Chairs, Statues, Priests Vestments and a variety of other
memorials are available for specified donations.
